Monthly Event Hosted at EGG (Economic Growth Gallery)
October 23 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Our October event will be at the EGG (Economic Growth Gallery) with the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce in Historic NorthEast (HNE).
Vote Your Main Street at https://www.nationalgeographic.com/voteyourmainstreet/kansas-city/ !!!
Considering the building was originally built as a flower shop, a Halloween themed event with a showing of the 1960s movie “Little Shop of Horrors” with a concession stand of popcorn (we have a street vendor type of popcorn machine), old fashion bottles of soda and “embalming fluid” punch, movie-style boxed candy, and Halloween oriented finger-food.
Coming in period costume will be encouraged. Staff will dress as the characters in the movie. We will invite relatives of the original owner of the flower shop to tell stories. We will have on display large size drawings/photos displaying before/after renovation.
Outside, we will have two to three antique vehicles (Woody Station Wagon and a Hurst) along with a life-size figure of Audrey II (the plant), casket, banners and balloons. Billboard adjacent to the building will advertise the event. We will also provide Little Shop of Horrors trinkets for participants to take home (see below). The walls will be decorated to reflect the look of the flower shop of the movie.
Bring cash for our raffle to benefit the UCG and the growth of our organization.
