Monthly Event Hosted by The Urban Core Group
April 10, 2002 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
1904-05: Construction is completed on the Kansas City Water Department Building which serves as a pump station for downtown Kansas City. Mule-drawn wagons can be seen trudging up the banks transporting water from the Missouri River. 2001: The old Kansas City Water Department Building is making a new splash thanks to George Birt and those who dare. Nestled away between the City Market and the river, our Urban Core member has turned this building into a functionally urban mixed-use building: offices on the 2nd floor and to-be-home of Garrett’s Corner Market (presently on Delaware and ooohhh so great) on the 1st. It’s a Dean & Deluca kind of store: Eat, Shop, Browse. We love history! We love local entrepreneurs! We love renovated buildings, and we love the urban core! Can’t wait to see you!!
