September 26, 2012 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Travois, September 2012

Named as one of the top ten small businesses in 2012 by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and a top 25 small business by KC Small Business Magazine in 2010, Travois, Inc. has helped their clients build or rehabilitate more than 4,000 houses since they opened.

Started in 1995, Travois is a family run consulting firm that provides financial assistance to American Indian Tribes to build affordable housing and spur economic development on Indian Reservations. They try to foster a home-like atmosphere that helps keep their employees happy by providing employees with on-site daycare, pool and tennis tables and allowing employees to bring their dogs to work.

The structure at 310 W. 19th Terrace was originally the headquarters to a stationery company that did all the engraving for the White House letterhead. When Travois moved in February 2010 they made extensive renovations. They updated the electrical and HVAC, added bathrooms and offices and installed 33 new solar panels that completely pays for their electricity. They also hired an American Indian graffiti artist to paint one of their walls and now have a collection of American Indian art on display.

Join us at this great location to discover a place that truly contributes to the vitality of our urban core!
