Monthly Event Hosted by Norman School Lofts
November 15, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Wednesday, November 15th will be our final, official event of 2017. It is the third Wednesday of the month (due to Thanksgiving, of course). 🙂 Come see the ongoing transformation of the former Norman School into market-rate apartments. This is an active construction site with temporary heat and lighting, so please dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes.
The Norman School was built in 1898 by the late John Perry, pioneer Kansas City business man as one of the founders of the Keith & Perry Coal Company, later the Central Coal & Coke Company. The former Norman School is located in the northwestern part of the Valentine neighborhood, lying along the east side of the Southwest Trafficway. Also, the School is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and, once a vibrant and active hub of the neighborhood, had been vacant and unused for many years.
Local developer, Del Hedgepath’s Norman School Lofts, LLC, is undertaking a $13 Million historic rehabilitation of the Norman School building, plus construction of two building additions on the north façade, to create approximately 61 market-rate apartments. Thirty-nine (39) of the apartments are in the historic Norman School building, while twenty-two (22) would be within the two four-story additions on the north side of the Norman School building.
Minutes from Westport, Crossroads, Penn Valley, and Uptown Arts District, and once completed, the Norman School Lofts will have an outdoor pool with sun deck, secured off street parking, dog salon, Google Fiber, and much more. Join us for a wonderful adventure!
