The past and future of Kansas City’s historic West Bottoms will be highlighted April 24-29 in the district’s second annual Heritage Week.
The Historic West Bottoms organization is joined by the city of Kansas City, the Mid-America Regional Council, VisitKC, the Urban Core Group, the Kansas City Public Library, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan., and the Kansas City Blues Society to stage educational and entertainment events related to the district’s stockyards and industrial history and its current rebirth.
The Heritage Week idea debuted last year with the celebration of the centennial of the 12th Street Trafficway Viaduct, the link between the bluffs of Kansas City and the West Bottoms.
This year’s celebration will end with the Wettest Block Soiree at 6 p.m. April 29, a dinner and dancing event at the Feasts of Fancy special events space. Complete details and ticket purchases are available at www.hwb-kc.com or by calling 816-678-6051.
